Richmond Police Promote 24 Officers Within Its Ranks


The Richmond Police Department is pleased to announce the promotions of 24 officers to the ranks of sergeant, lieutenant and captain at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 23, at the Richmond Police Training Academy, 1202 W. Graham Road.

Chief Bryan T. Norwood will promote the largest group of officers under his leadership since his tenure began in November 2008, with three lieutenants being promoted to the rank of captain, eight new lieutenants and 13 new sergeants.

“The men and women included in this group of some of the best officers in the Richmond Police Department and I’m proud to announce their great achievement,” Chief Norwood said.

Being promoted to the rank of captain are:

2.      Martin Harrison
3.      Emmett Williams

Being promoted to the rank of lieutenant are:
1.      Donald Davenport
2.      John Garcia
3.      Chris Gleason
4.      Darrell Goins
5.      Jason Hudson
6.      Thomas Lloyd

8.      Tim Wyatt

Being promoted to the rank of sergeant are:
1.      Dana Brereton
2.      Tish Edmonds
3.      Richard Edwards
4.      Scott Leonard
5.      Marvin Marsh

9.      Brian Robinson
