Victims Identified in Fatal Accident
The Richmond Police Department has identified the two victims from this morning’s vehicle accident.
The passenger, Michael T. Overton, 51, of the 1900 block of Carrington Road, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
The driver, Keith D. Fordham, 52, of the 00 block of East Broad Rock Road, was also ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to VCU Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
At approximately 1:23 a.m., their vehicle was attempting to make a left turn off of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Bridge onto Mosby Street when the vehicle collided with a light pole at the corner of Mosby and O streets. The light pole fell to the pavement as the vehicle struck a tree, continued several more feet down O Street and came to rest against another tree.
All roads closed for the crash investigation were re-opened by 5 a.m.
