Homicide at 29th and Newbourne streets
Richmond Police detectives are in the early stages of a homicide investigation in the city’s East End.
At approximately 5:46 p.m. today, a citizen flagged down an RRHA officer on patrol and alerted the officer to a person down at the intersection of 29th and Newbourne streets. Richmond Police Department officers were called to the scene and found a male down at the location. A Richmond Ambulance Authority unit was in the area and pronounced the victim dead of an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim is a black male in his late 20’s.
The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
Detectives, Forensics personnel and K-9 officers are currently working the investigation and speaking with possible witnesses to gather information. Two black males dressed in black clothing were seen in the area before they left on foot. Detectives would like to speak with those men.
