BACKGROUND:
Mayor Dwight C. Jones, Chief Ray J. Tarasovic and the Richmond Police Department will honor personnel and community partners for their work in 2012 to make Richmond a safer city.Two of the Department’s top awards, the Police Medal and the Life Saving Bar, also will be presented to patrol officers for their courageous and heroic actions in the line of duty.
Also, the Department will present its prestigious annual awards in the following categories:
• Precinct of the Year,
• Sector of the Year,
• Rookie of the Year and
• The Dominic O. Tabb Communications Officer of the Year.
The Department recognizes the efforts of those who contribute to its successes twice a year with an awards ceremony.
The public and members of the media are invited to attend.
