Infant Death Ruled Homicide

Richmond Police detectives have arrested a woman in connection to the discovery of a deceased infant in a dumpster last night.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the death of the infant--a female--a homicide.

At approximately 8 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to an alley in the 1800 block of Monument Avenue and found the baby unresponsive. The infant was later pronounced dead.

After further investigation, detectives identified the child’s mother as ShaVaughn Robinson, 27, of the 1600 block of Wentbridge Road, and have charged her with felony concealment of a body.

Detectives are currently speaking with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office to determine additional charges. Because this investigation is still active, detectives are not releasing further information at this time.

Detectives would like to thank everyone who spoke with officers and provided information that allowed them to identify and make the arrest.

They are not looking for anyone else in connection with this crime.
