Victim Identified in Montecrest Avenue Homicide

Richmond Police detectives have identified the man killed yesterday as Rodney Lewis, 50, of the 2800 block of Montecrest Avenue.

Officers were called to the 2800 block of Montecrest Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a shooting. When they arrived on scene, they found Lewis deceased in front of his residence and a second adult male suffering from what initially appeared to be a gunshot wound. Further investigation revealed that the second man was not struck by gunfire.

Detectives believe robbery may have been the motive for the crime and are searching for four suspects describes as males wearing all dark clothing. One suspect is described as a black male with a stout build, weighing between 180 and 200 pounds and approximately 5’7” to 6’0” tall.
