Suspect Arrested for North 19th Street Aggravated Assault
Thanks to tips from the community following an announcement of a suspect sought for a violent assault, Richmond Police officers from Fourth Precinct last night located and arrested the suspect.
Fourth Precinct officers located Ladell Holmes, 23, of Richmond, in a hotel along Chamberlayne Avenue. He was arrested without incident. He has been charged with attempted murder. A booking photo of Holmes is attached.
At approximately 11:35 p.m., Sunday, March 26, officers were called to the 00 block of North 19th Street for the report of an assault. Officers located an adult female who had been injured after being assaulted by an unknown male in an alley off of North 19th Street. The victim reported she was walking in the area when she was strangled and assaulted, seriously injuring her leg. That male was later identified as Holmes, thanks, in part, to tips from the public.
On Tuesday, the RPD released a media advisory, provided an interview by the case’s detective sergeant and posted information on the RPD social media channels seeking information from the public on the whereabouts of Holmes.
“There is no way to overstate the value to the community when we all come together to make for a safer city,” said Interim Chief Rick Edwards. “Media coverage, information from the public, diligent detective work and quick action from patrol officers were all components of this successful apprehension.”
