WHAT: Bike for the Blue Memorial Ride

BACKGROUND: As part of National
Police Week, members of the Richmond Police Department join others in law
enforcement to pedal in a pilgrimage to Washington, D.C. in honor of officers
who have died in the line of duty.
A contingent of about 60 officers
representing Richmond and jurisdictions from Virginia and North Carolina and
federal law enforcement agencies will participate.
Bike for the Blue participants will ride 117 miles on Route 1 to the nation’s
capital to meet their colleagues from across the country for the Law
Enforcement Memorial ceremony. Richmond Police will remember 29 RPD officers
who have given their lives for the city as it participates for the 20th
year.
Members of the public and the media are invited to attend.
