Midlothian Turnpike Homicide

The Richmond Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred yesterday afternoon along Midlothian Turnpike.

The call was received shortly after 3 p.m., Thursday, May 7 that a man had been shot in front of the Family Dollar store at 6520 Midlothian Turnpike.

Officers found Sylvester Nichols, 24, of the 6300 block of Glenway Drive lying in the parking lot of the store. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance video from nearby businesses and have interviewed several witnesses. They do not believe this shooting was a random act.
