WHAT: Richmond Police Department Community Walk
WHEN:
5:30 p.m. today,
September 2, 2015
WHERE:
28th and U Streets
BACKGROUND:
Chief Alfred Durham will
lead his Command Staff on a walk this evening in the Church Hill
North neighborhood. During the walk the officers will speak with
members of the community about safety concerns they may have and what they’d
like to see more of from the Richmond Police Department.
Sector 111 Lt. Jeremy Sayles is pleased with a 15% drop in violent crime and a 14% drop in property crime so far this year. “The numbers show we are heading in a positive direction,” said Lt. Sayles. “We are still counting on help from the residents of Church Hill North so we can continue the downward trend.”
Lt. Sayles has prepared a handout of crime prevention tips that the officers will be giving to everyone they meet.
This event is the latest in a series of walks conducted on a monthly basis by the Richmond Police Department in neighborhoods throughout the city.
Members of the media are encouraged to attend.
