WHAT: Richmond Police Department Community Walk
WHEN:
5:00 p.m. Today, December 13, 2016
WHERE:
Brook & Clay Streets (Abner Clay Park)
BACKGROUND: Chief Alfred Durham will lead his Command Staff and other Richmond Police Department officers on a walk at 5:00 p.m. today through a Jackson Ward neighborhood surrounding Abner Clay Park. During the walk, officers will speak with community members about safety concerns they may have and what they would like to see from the Richmond Police Department.
Sector 413 Lieutenant Victor Greene said the said overall crime is trending downward, led by a reduction in property crimes.
“We have experienced a six percent reduction in major crimes this year, but incidents of violent crimes have increased. The good news is the RPD has been able to clear by arrest 60 percent of reported crimes. This would not have been possible without the help of citizens coming forward with valuable information.”
This event is the latest in a series of walks conducted by the Richmond Police Department in neighborhoods throughout the city.
Members of the media are encouraged to attend.
