Suspect Sought in Theft from Motor Vehicle at Downtown Parking Deck

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to identify the male suspect in the attached photos who stole from a motor vehicle at a parking deck in the downtown area.

Sometime between 10:58 p.m. and 11:44 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, the suspect broke into a motor vehicle parked inside the deck located at 509 E. Franklin Street.  The suspect stole money and jewelry.

At the time of the crime, the suspect was wearing a green hoodie, dark jacket, and blue jeans.  He was carrying a small backpack and riding a black bicycle with fenders and white handgrips.

Detectives want to remind citizens that taking a few small precautions can help secure a vehicle and prevent crimes of opportunity such as motor vehicle theft or theft from motor vehicles:
  • ·         Lock car doors.  Regardless of where it’s parked, lock up and keep valuables out of sight.
  • ·         Never leave keys inside the car. It makes the vehicle an easy target.
  • ·         Don’t leave a running vehicle unattended, even for a few minutes.
