The Richmond Police Department is
investigating a shooting incident at the Shockoe Hill Apartments overnight in
which one person was killed and two were wounded before the shooter turned the
weapon on himself.
At approximately 11:49 p.m.,
Friday, June 19th, RPD officers were called to the 200 block of
Hospital Street for a report of a shooting. When they arrived they quickly
located three victims inside the apartment building. Two of them, an adult male
and an adult female, were transported to a local hospital with non-life
threatening gunshot injuries. A third victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deceased person has been
identified as Betty D. Richardson, 63, of Richmond.
The shooter has been identified as
her son, Jesse Richardson, 47, of Richmond. With the assistance of the Virginia
State Police, he was found in a nearby apartment with a self-inflicted gunshot
wound.
All four persons were known to each
other.
The investigation is on-going.
Detectives are not looking for additional suspects.
