Arrest Made in Chamberlayne Avenue Homicide
Richmond Police detectives have made an arrest in the homicide of Daniel Mallory that occurred on Chamberlayne Avenue last week.
Detectives arrested Jason Morton, Jr., 21, of Richmond, and charged him with second degree murder. Additional charges are pending. His booking photo is attached.
On Tuesday, April 30 at approximately 9:20 p.m., officers were called to the 2700 block of Chamberlayne Avenue for the report of random gunfire. Officers arrived and found an adult male, Mallory, down and unresponsive in an alley. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The department wishes to thank the individuals and businesses that provided surveillance video near the area of the shooting which assisted detectives in this investigation.
