Suspect Sought in String of Robberies from In-Person Transactions, Safe Exchange Zones Available
Earlier this week, detectives released images of a person suspected of an armed robbery during an in-person transaction which began online.
Detectives have now released new images of another suspect in a recent string of similar robberies and are asking the public for assistance in identifying him and remind the public that Safe Exchange Zones are available while conducting transactions.
The images of the suspect and an example of the multi-colored jersey detectives believe he was wearing are attached. This suspect is related to several robberies that occurred last week in the East End of Richmond. The victims have attempted to complete transactions for expensive mobile phones following a deal being struck in an online marketplace. The suspect arrives, brandishes a firearm, steals the cash or item, and flees.
While conducting business with unknown persons, the Richmond Police Department advises the public to use Safe Exchange Zones, located at two police precincts. Photos are attached. Safe Exchange Zones are well marked areas with a video camera recording 24 hours a day. While these cameras are not monitored live, should an incident occur, the video can be used to assist a detective’s investigation.

you cannot locate a Safe Exchange Zone location, follow these safety tips:

If a deal seems too good to be true – it probably is.
•
Meet at a well-lit, public location that you choose.
•
Do not conduct exchanges at your home or at the unknown person’s home.
•
Conduct exchanges during daylight hours.
•
Avoid meeting strangers alone.
•
Share your location with a trusted friend or family member.
• Trust your instincts, if something does not feel right, cancel the meeting.
