This week and next week Richmond Police personnel will hit the streets to hit the books with several hundred Richmond Public Schools students as part of the Read Across America program in celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.
Each year sworn and civilian personnel from Richmond Police volunteer to read some of the many books written by Dr. Seuss at Richmond elementary schools.
“This is Community Policing 101. We’re getting to know our youngest citizens in a fun, educational atmosphere and they’re getting to know officers and other members of Richmond Police do more than law enforcement,” Chief Bryan T. Norwood said.
Following are the scheduled dates and locations for Richmond Police’s participation in Read Across America:
- Tuesday, March 2 8:30 to 11 a.m. Westover Hills Elementary
