Leroy K. Maclin, 30, of the 1300 block of Cedar Lawn Avenue in Henrico has been charged with driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license and attempt to elude.
Saturday night at approximately 10:30 p.m., an officer on foot received information about a vehicle being driven dangerously in Shockoe Slip. The officer observed the vehicle and attempted to stop it in the 1400 block of East Cary Street but the vehicle continued eastbound.
Officers in the area observed the Chevrolet Cavalier being driven eastbound on Dock Street and attempted to make a traffic stop. The vehicle increased speed and several blocks later lost control and wrecked against a parking structure in the 2300 block of Dock Street.
The Richmond Fire Department extricated Maclin from the vehicle as the Police Department Crash Team responded to investigate. Maclin was transported to VCU Medical Center.
