The Richmond Police Department has charged the occupant of the Grove Avenue apartment that caught fire Saturday.
Jeff S. Prillaman, 51, of the 3500 block of Grove Avenue, has been charged with the manufacture of methamphetamine. His photo will be released when it is available.
Saturday at approximately 9:30 p.m. the Richmond Fire Department responded to a fire in the 3500 block of Grove Avenue. After the fire was extinguished, chemicals were found in the apartment that are consistent with the production of methamphetamine. The Richmond Police Department was called to the scene.
Arson investigators were called to the scene along with the Bomb Squad as a precaution. The scene was rendered safe and the chemicals were sent to the State Lab for analysis.
Prillaman remains at VCU Medical Center and is still being treated for his injuries.
The investigation is continuing.
