At approximately 9:30 p.m. last night the Richmond Fire Department responded to a fire in the 3500 block of Grove Avenue. After the fire was extinguished, chemicals were found in the apartment that are consistent with the production of methamphetamine. The Richmond Police Department was called to the scene.
Arson investigators were called to the scene as well as the Bomb Squad as a precaution. The scene was rendered safe.
The occupant of the apartment, Jeff S. Prillaman, 51, of the same address, was transported to VCU Medical Center with severe burns that are considered life threatening.
Evidence will be submitted to the State Lab. The investigation is ongoing.
