7-Eleven/McDonald’s Robbery Arrest
Richmond Police Department Second and Third Precinct officers and detectives have made an arrest of the man suspected of robbing two businesses last night.
Police arrested Daniel J. Randolph, 39, of the 8000 block of Provincetown Drive, Chesterfield. His photo is attached.
Officers and detectives used information provided by witnesses to help develop Randolph as a suspect.
The first robbery occurred at the 7-Eleven convenience store at 2922 Jefferson Davis Highway at approximately 5 p.m. A few hours later, the McDonald’s at 6850 Forest Hill Ave. was robbed at approximately 7:40 p.m.

7-Eleven/McDonald’s Robber Sought
Richmond Police detectives need the public’s
help to identify the man in the attached photos who is suspected of robbing two
businesses last night.
The first robbery occurred at the 7-Eleven convenience store at 2922
Jefferson Davis Highway
at approximately 5 p.m. A few hours later, a man robbed
the McDonald’s at 6850 Forest Hill Ave.
at approximately 7:40 p.m. Though
the robber did not display a weapon in either crime, he implied that he had
one.
Detectives believe the same man committed both
robberies. The man in both robberies is described as a dark-skinned black male
in his mid-30s, weighing approximately 200 to 220 pounds, with a low hair cut,
no facial hair and a medium to heavy build.
The man was seen leaving the scene of both
incidents driving a brown-colored SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer or Expedition.

Arrest Made in Swansboro Homicide
Richmond Police detectives have arrested a woman in
connection with the stabbings of two sisters yesterday.
Monita W. Cunningham, 48, of the 3800 block of Caulder
Court, was arrested Sunday
afternoon and has been charged with aggravated assault. Further charges are
pending.
At approximately 1:30
a.m. Sunday, officers were called to the 3000 block of Hull Street for
a report of a woman stabbed. As officers arrived and began gathering
information, they learned of a second victim a block away in the 300 block
of Swansboro Lane .
The Hull Street victim
was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but is now in stable
condition. The Swansboro Lane
victim, Rakita J. McClenny, 29, of the 3400 block of East Marshall Street (Address Corrected), died at the scene.
Investigators are
not looking for any more suspects in this case, but ask anyone with any

Swansboro Lane Homicide
Richmond Police investigators are following up on strong
leads today after two sisters were stabbed—one fatally—early this morning on the
city’s Southside.
At
approximately 1:30 a.m., officers were called to the 3000 block of
Hull
Street for a report of a woman stabbed. As
officers arrived and began gathering information, they learned of a second
victim a block away in the 300 block of Swansboro
Lane .
The
Hull
Street victim was taken to the hospital with
life-threatening injuries, but is now in stable condition. The Swansboro Lane
victim has been identified as Rakita J. McClenny, 29, of the 4300 block of

Detectives have developed a very strong person of
interest in this case, and will release more information when it’s

This year’s observance is May 13 through 19.
Chief Bryan T. Norwood and the Richmond Police Department will pay homage to Richmond’s 28 fallen officers and also remember those who served the Department and passed away in 2011 and to date in 2012.
Police Week proclamations from Gov. Bob McDonnell and Mayor Dwight C. Jones will be presented.

Old Brook Road Homicide Update
The Richmond Police Department has arrested a person of interest in the fatal shooting of Keona Johnson in the 4000 block of Old Brook Road last month.
Ernest L. Brown, Jr., 29, of the 5100 block of Bending Branch Road, Highland Springs, was arrested yesterday without incident. He has been charged with robbery. Other charges are pending. His photo is attached.
Shortly after midnight on April 5, officers were called to the 4000 block of Old Brook Road for a report of shots fired. When they arrived, they found Johnson dead at the scene.
Detectives thank the community members that came forward with information that aided in the investigation.

Three Arrests for April Violence Results in 53 Indictments
Richmond Police detectives are
proud to announce multiple indictments and arrests that will clear nearly all
of the April homicides and shootings in the city.
Additionally, detectives have
either identified or obtained warrants for persons wanted in several other
incidents.
“These detectives should be commended for all of
their non-stop hard work to investigate these crimes, link them together and
find and arrest the people responsible,” Deputy
Chief John Buturla said.
“Every time a life is lost, it’s a tragedy. But I
think these indictments show that when you commit crimes in the Richmond area, we will
find and arrest you. But we could not have done this without the tremendous
support and tips we received from the community, as well as our law enforcement
partners.”
With the
assistance of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, the U.S. Marshal
Service, Henrico Police Department and the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing
Authority Police Department,
Richmond Police officers and detectives were able to arrest the below three
individuals who were indicted this week on 53 charges for three separate
incidents.
Shayleisha Shenelle Winston, 20, of Glen Allen, was
indicted for:

shooting and robbery of a man in the 1800 block of North 22nd Street . Charges: abduction
with intent to gain pecuniary benefit; use of a firearm during an abduction;
malicious wounding; use of a firearm during a malicious wounding; attempted
murder; and use of a firearm during an attempted murder.

homicide of Khalfaanii Hasaan Sultaan in the 1700 block of Chicago Avenue . Charges: murder, use of a
firearm during the commission of a murder; robbery; and use of a firearm during
a robbery.
Corey James Walters, 18, of the 1100 block of St. Paul Street , was indicted for:

shooting and robbery of a man in the 1800 block of North 22nd Street . Charges: abduction with intent to gain pecuniary benefit; use of a
firearm during an abduction; use of a firearm during a malicious wounding; attempted

W. Broad Street to Close for 12 Hours for President’s Visit
Many parking and traffic restrictions will go into place starting tomorrow (Friday) near VCU in preparation for the president’s visit at the Siegel Center on Saturday afternoon.
From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, police will close down West Broad Street betweenLombardy and Belvidere streets.
There will be additional intermittent street closures in the areas around the Siegel Centerall afternoon Saturday. Citizens who live or work nearby or plan to attend the event should plan plenty of time to get around.
Citizens should expect very high levels of pedestrian traffic in those neighborhoods as well as vehicle congestion. Citizens not attending the event should avoid the area. The Richmond Police Department thanks the public for its understanding and cooperation.

Arrest in MLK Bridge Shooting
An arrest has been made in the
shooting of a man on the Martin
Luther King
Bridge last week.
At approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, a
45-year-old man called police after he was shot.
At approximately 2 p.m. today, the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Thomas L. Gilmore, 19, of the 500 block of North 19th Street ,
and charged him with malicious wounding and use of a firearm during the
commission of a felony in connection with this crime.
Detectives would like to thank
members of the community who stepped forward to help with this investigation,
which enabled detectives to quickly obtain warrants for Gilmore.
Though this investigation is
ongoing, detectives are not looking for any other suspects at this time.
Cowardin Avenue Homicide
Richmond Police detectives have
identified the man shot to death this morning as Freddie Fields, 46, of no confirmed address.
Officers were called to the 400 block of Cowardin Avenue at approximately 5:18 a.m. for a report of a man down. When
they arrived, they found Fields deceased at the scene.
Detectives are asking for the
public’s help to find the offenders and also ask that anyone who may have heard
something or saw something in that area this morning to please call
investigators.

Recognize this Canal Street Burglar?
Richmond
Police detectives need the public’s help to find and identify the man in the below photos who is wanted in connection with a downtown burglary.
Between 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on April 21, the man broke into a
residence in the 00 block of Canal Street
by breaking a window. He stole an Apple iMac and text books.
Detectives believe the offender may
frequent the Coliseum Lofts in
the 1100 to 1200 blocks of West Broad Street
area.
