BACKGROUND:
Each year law enforcement agencies across the country honor those who gave their lives in the line of duty during National Police Week.
This year’s observance is May 13 through 19.
Chief Bryan T. Norwood and the Richmond Police Department will pay homage to Richmond’s 28 fallen officers and also remember those who served the Department and passed away in 2011 and to date in 2012.
Police Week proclamations from Gov. Bob McDonnell and Mayor Dwight C. Jones will be presented.
