Barricade Situation Resolved
The Richmond Police Department has resolved a barricade
situation that occurred in the Gilpin Court housing community.
Saturday night at approximately 7:15 p.m., officers were called
to the 400 block of West Charity Street for the report of a domestic assault.
Officers arrived and found an adult female suffering from a stab wound. She was
transported to VCU Medical Center with injuries that are not considered life
threatening.
Officers believed the man responsible was inside a
residence. Officers set up a perimeter and after several attempts to make contact
with the suspect the SWAT team made entry.
The suspect, an adult male, was found inside the residence suffering
from self-inflicted wounds. He was taken to VCU Medical Center with injuries
that are not considered life threatening.
Several roads in and around the housing complex were closed
to accommodate the investigation.
