The Richmond Police Department is investigating a homicide
that occurred early this morning on Midlothian Turnpike.
At approximately 1:14 a.m., officers responded to the 6500
block of Midlothian Turnpike in reference to reports of a person
shot. Within minutes of their arrival, they located an adult male
suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a
local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
The victim has been identified as Anthony C. Herndon, 42,
of the 4200 block of Fayette Circle in Henrico County.
Detectives are actively working all available leads and
continue to gather additional information as part of the ongoing investigation.
