Robbery and Death Investigation on Richmond Highway

Richmond Police detectives have made two arrests in the robbery and shooting incident that occurred last week in a parking lot on Richmond Highway and have identified the female who died.

At approximately 8:21 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, officers were called to a parking lot of a business in the 2900 block of Richmond Highway for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found an adult female, Deasha Jones, 24, of Hopewell, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital where, two days later, she succumbed to her injury.

Later on Wednesday evening, August 30, two adult males self-transported to a local hospital, both with apparent gunshot wounds. Their injuries were considered life threatening. Detectives have determined both were involved in an attempted robbery at the parking lot, along with Deasha Jones. Jeremiah Vaughn, 20, of Hopewell and Devon Jones, 20, of Hopewell, have each been charged with attempted murder, aggravated robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony x2. A booking photo of Vaughn is attached. A booking photo of Devon Jones is not yet available.

The victim of the robbery attempt, not on scene when officers arrived, was not injured.
