Bicyclist Identified in Fatal Collision on West Broad Street

 

The Richmond Police Department Crash Team has identified the bicyclist who was struck while crossing Bowe Street while riding his bicycle as James Boggs, Jr., 46, of Richmond.

 

Yesterday at approximately 3:28 p.m., officers were called to the 1500 block of West Broad Street for the report of a collision. Officers arrived and found an adult male, Boggs, Jr.,  down on the ground unconscious after being struck by a dark colored sedan. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

 

The RPD Crash Team responded to the scene and determined the driver of the vehicle was traveling southbound on Bowe Street and was attempting to make a right turn onto West Broad Street when he struck the bicyclist who was riding eastbound on Broad Street crossing Bowe Street. 

 

This investigation continues. At this time, the driver has been charged with failure to stop for pedestrian at a crosswalk.
