Richmond Police Promotes Domestic Violence Awareness

The Richmond Police Department Community Partnership for Domestic Violence Awareness will host the following events this week under the theme “Journey for Justice” to promote domestic violence awareness and prevention:
  • 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, Byrd Park Roundhouse: Candlelight vigil to mourn those who have died as a result of domestic violence.
  • 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, Cedar Street Baptist Church, 2301 Cedar St.: Domestic Violence Forum featuring a panel discussion and community resources to raise awareness about the issue of domestic violence and educate the public about its effects.
  • 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, Byrd Park Roundhouse: Journey for Justice 5K Walk and Awareness Festival begins at 10 a.m., with registration for the walk until 10:30 a.m. Registration for the walk also available online at www.journeyforjustice.eventbrite.com. Following the 5K walk, family activities and resources on domestic violence and martial arts demonstrations will be presented.
