The Richmond Police Department has charged a man in
connection with the shooting of a child on Saturday.
At approximately 9:30
p.m. on Saturday, officers received a call for a person shot inside a residence
in the 1300 block of Coalter Street.
Officers arrived on scene within minutes and found a 4-year-old female who had
been shot. She was taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life-threatening
injuries.
Detectives have charged Demond
A. Brown, 27, of the 2100 block of Mimosa Street, with one felony count of
discharging a firearm within a building or dwelling.
Detectives believe the shooting was a result of an
accidental discharge.
