Richmond Police officers arrested
Steven Banks, 45, of the 5500 block of Cypress Drive, N. Chesterfield, last
night after Banks drove away during a routine traffic stop. He has been charged
with Felony Elude and two misdemeanors; having an open container of alcohol,
and operating a motor vehicle with defective equipment.
At approximately 11:42 p.m., March
25, officers stopped Banks’ vehicle for a defective taillight in the 1200 block
of Jefferson Davis Highway. During that stop, Banks drove off. Officers
followed him to the 400 block of Westover Hills Boulevard where Banks left his
vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. He was quickly captured.
Banks and an RPD officer received
minor injuries during the foot pursuit and subsequent arrest.
