Suspect Sought in Fatal Shooting

March 15, 2015

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to identify a suspect involved in the fatal shooting of a young woman on the city’s south side yesterday.

At approximately 5:09 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to the Exxon Station at 1601 Jahnke Road by several callers who reported seeing shots being fired at a young woman during a dispute. They located the victim, a 19 year old white female lying in the parking lot, suffering from a gunshot wound.

She was transported to Chippenham Hospital where she died early this morning. Her name will be released on Monday to provide her family with enough time to notify loved-ones.

This is the third homicide in Richmond in 2015.

The suspect is described as a thin, young, dark-skinned black male wearing a white tee-shirt. He fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle.

Detectives have received valuable information from several eyewitnesses. They ask anyone with information to call Major Crimes Detective Conrad Simms at (804) 646-0712 or Crime Stoppers at 780-1000. Citizens can also text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip. Both Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.
