East Main Street Aggravated Assault

At approximately 8:13 p.m. last night, officers were called to the 1500 block of East Main Street for the report of an aggravated assault.

A female reported she was walking eastbound on East Main Street when a male grabbed her and threatened her with a knife. She was cut on the arm as she broke away from the suspect. The suspect fled on foot across East Main Street southbound towards the river.

The victim received treatment at a local hospital for injuries that were not considered life threatening.

The suspect is described as a black male, early 20’s, light complexion, 5’9 to 5’10” in height, an athletic build with short, black curly hair. He was wearing white trousers and a dark-colored shirt.

Major Crimes detectives are investigating.

First Precinct patrol officers, while already maintaining a robust, high-visibility patrol in the area, will bolster patrol units and coverage while the investigation into this aggravated assault continues. A portion of this augmented presence will be of the covert, undercover variety.
