Reward Offered for Suspect Wanted in Connection to Red Ash Road Shootings

A $5,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect from Monday’s shootings in the Blue Ridge Apartments.

The U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force has offered the reward as they work with the Richmond Police Department in attempting to locate Anwar “Wawa” Phillips.

Phillips, 30, is known to frequent the hotels on Midlothian Turnpike. He is six feet, one inch tall and weighs approximately 191 pounds. His photo is attached.

Monday at approximately 9:25 p.m., officers were called to the 300 block of Red Ash Road for a report of shots fired. Officers arrived and located three persons who were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. A male died at the scene.

The two other victims, an adult male and a juvenile girl under 10 years of age were taken to a local hospital.

Phillips has warrants on file for malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Other charges are pending. The investigation is ongoing.
