Early Saturday morning
runners will take to city streets for the 2016 Richmond Marathon. Numerous “No
Parking” zones and street closures will be in effect as a result.
The 8K race will
begin at 7 a.m. at Eighth and Broad streets. At 7:30 a.m., runners
participating in the half-marathon start from Seventh and Broad streets. The
marathon begins at 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of Fifth and Grace streets.
“No Parking” zones
along Fifth Street between Byrd and Tredegar streets will go into effect at 10
a.m. on Friday, November 11. Closures on Broad Street between N. 12th
Street and Boulevard will be enforced starting at midnight Saturday, November
12. Other “No Parking” zones will take effect at 3 a.m. Saturday.
Street closures along
Tredegar Street between S. Seventh Street and Brown’s Island will begin at 10
a.m. on Friday, November 11. Other closures throughout the city will be
effective at 4 a.m. the day of the marathon. Major thoroughfares that will be
affected include Broad Street, Belvidere Street and the Lee Bridge.
