Last night at approximately 11:40 p.m., a large group of individuals walked down the Second Avenue off-ramps on both sides of the Downtown Expressway, walked across the travel lanes and sat down, blocking the roadway.
Officers
from the Richmond Police Department responded to the south side of the roadway
and State Police responded to the north side.
Department
officers repeatedly asked the group to leave the roadway, but they refused.
Department
officers dispersed the crowd and made two arrests. A female, Haley A.
Reynolds, 22, of the 1000 block of West Franklin Street, and a male, Tion D. Edmonds, 18, of the 11800 block of Buchanan Court in Fredricksburg, were
arrested.
They
were both charged with unlawful assembly and pedestrian in the roadway. They
were given summonses and released at the scene.
The roadway opened to traffic at approximately 12:15 a.m. this morning.
