The Richmond Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred overnight on the city’s south side.
Around 1:14 a.m., officers were called to the 2700 block of
Hull Street for a report of a shooting. They quickly located a person with
gunshot wounds – a man dressed as a woman – lying unresponsive on the ground.
He was transported to a local hospital where, at 10:16 a.m., he was pronounced
dead.
The victim has been identified as William D. Norwood, 30,
of the 3800 block of Caulder Street.
RPD detectives have interviewed a few people, but there are
others they would like to hear from; especially those who were in the area last
night or may have known the victim.
“We would like to speak to anyone who may have information
about Mr. Norwood – his activity that night and possible associates,” said Lt.
Donald Davenport. “We have interviewed a Good Samaritan who stopped to render
aid, but there were others in the area, too, last night. We would like them to
give us a call.”
Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call
Major Crimes Detective Anthony Coates at (804) 646-0729 or contact
Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or at www.7801000.com.
