During the walk, officers will speak with community members about safety concerns they may have and what they would like to see from the Richmond Police Department.
Sector 213 Lieutenant
Robert Marland
said so far this year there has been a reduction in the number of crimes
against commercial establishments. The area has hotels that cater to a
transient population, commercial businesses, industrial areas and shopping
centers.
“I want to thank the residents and business owners who have worked with me and my officers to address these crimes,” said Lt. Marland. “We know we need to continue to work hard. The goal of this walk is to re-energize the effort. Our focus now is to reduce crimes against individuals, such as Aggravated Assaults and Robberies, in which have seen a slight increase.”
This event is the latest in a series of walks conducted by the Richmond Police Department in neighborhoods throughout the city.
Members of the media are encouraged to attend.
