Police Department detectives have identified the two males in last week’s fatal
shootings on Jefferson Davis Highway as Letron A. Franklin, 26, of Henrico
and James M. Winston, 66, of the 1500 block of Columbia Street in Richmond.
At
approximately 3:00 a.m., on Tuesday, February 25, a random
gunfire call was received from the 1500 block of Jefferson Davis Highway,
followed closely by a call of a person down. Officers arrived and found two
adult males, Franklin and Winston, down and unresponsive in a parking lot of an
apartment building. They had each suffered an apparent gunshot wound and were
pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives
working this investigation believe there were several people present at the
time of the shootings off the northbound lanes of Jefferson Davis Highway in
front of the small apartment building. Detectives urge anyone with information
to provide it to investigators, including motorists who may have been driving
in the area in the early morning hours who may have seen something that could
have been related to these shootings.
