Suspect Arrested in Richmond Highway Homicide Investigation
Richmond Police detectives, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force, Henrico Police and with tips from the public, located and arrested the suspect sought for the homicide on Richmond Highway on August 28.
Last night, detectives arrested Rico Albert, 42, of Richmond, in Henrico County without incident. He has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the investigation involving the shooting of Isaiah Johnson. A booking photo of Albert is not yet available.
“When we work together for the goal of public safety we all share the credit for the successes,” said RPD Chief Rick Edwards. “The public provided valuable tips and our dedicated detectives coordinated with law enforcement partners to make this arrest. The department appreciates the spirit of cooperation that led to this important apprehension.”
On Monday, August 28, at approximately 5:24 p.m., while working a collision in the 300 block of Richmond Highway, officers were approached and notified of a shooting that had occurred nearby. Detectives determined that the victim, Johnson, was shot in the 4300 block of Richmond Highway and an attempt by individuals on the scene was being made to transport him to a local hospital in a personal vehicle. Officers called for the Richmond Ambulance Authority which responded and transported him to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
