Driver and Vehicle Sought in Fatal Collision on West Main Street
The Richmond Police Department Crash Team is asking the public to help identify the driver and vehicle involved in the fatal collision involving a pedestrian earlier this month on West Main Street.
At approximately 10:50 p.m., Wednesday, February 5, officers were called to the 2600 block of West Main Street for the report of a collision. Officers arrived and found an adult female, Ruthanne Berry, 52, of Richmond, down and unresponsive. She was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were considered to be life threatening. Berry succumbed to her injuries the following day.
The RPD Crash Team responded to the scene and determined Berry was walking southbound on North Robinson Street and attempted to cross West Main Street in the crosswalk when she was struck by dark-colored sedan. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and continued to drive westbound on West Main Street.
Investigators have determined the vehicle left a parking lot, located at 1911 West Main Street, at 10:46 p.m., four minutes before the vehicle struck Berry.
The investigation continues.
