Missing Woman, Last Seen on Bridge, Sought
The Richmond Police Department is asking the
public for information about a local woman who has been reported missing.
On Saturday, February 8, at approximately 8:18
p.m., RPD units responded to the Lee Bridge for the report of a suspicious
situation. The caller stated that a black female wearing a black tracksuit,
knit hat, and glasses was standing near the railing of the bridge.
During the initial investigation by the Richmond
Police Department, the vehicle that was parked on the bridge was found to be
registered to Mareesa Jones, 59, of Henrico. Jones is described
as being approximately 5’9” tall and weighing about 200 pounds. Her photo is
attached.
Since the report of the incident The Richmond
Police Department, The Richmond Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team, and the Metro
Aviation Unit have utilized resources to attempt to locate Jones which included
searching the James River and surrounding areas.
Friends of Jones are
concerned for her safety. Detectives will continue to investigate but urge
concerned individuals not to search in and around the James River, which is at
flood stage with dangerous debris.
