The Richmond Police Department is investigating the death of a woman who was shot earlier this morning in the city’s East End.
Around 7:20 a.m. a Richmond Police officer was flagged down by a passer-by who noticed a woman unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the 1100 block of North 25th Street. The woman had a gunshot wound.
She immediately was taken to VCU Medical Center, where she later died.
The homicide victim has been identified as Bonnie C. Marrow, 56, of the 8200 block of Cookes Farm Court in Henrico County.
The initial investigation indicates Marrow may have been struck by a bullet inside her car as she traveled in the vicinity of the Nine Mile Road corridor or the Mechanicsville Turnpike corridor. She would occasionally visit the gravesite of a loved one at Oakwood Cemetery and then travel toward 25th Street.
This morning, it appears Marrow was shot somewhere near Nine Mile or Mechanicsville Turnpike but managed to drive to North 25th Street before losing consciousness. She was driving a late-model four-door, black Acura. A photo of the car accompanies this advisory.
