WHAT: Richmond Police Department Community Walk

BACKGROUND:
Chief Alfred Durham will
lead his Command Staff on a walk through the Gilpin Court neighborhood.
During the walk, officers will speak with community members about safety
concerns they may have and what they’d like to see more of from the Richmond
Police Department.
Police and attendees
will meet at the Calhoun Center.
They will then divide into four groups to
cover all areas of the neighborhood.
Sector 411 Lieutenant John Beazley noted major crimes, specifically those involving gun violence, have increased compared to last year. In an effort to combat the increase in crime, Chief Alfred Durham has implemented several programs, including helping to launch Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers Gun250.
Gun250, offers rewards of up to $250 for information about
illegally-held firearms.
Chief Durham will be available for interviews.
This event is the
latest in a series of walks conducted by the Richmond Police Department in
neighborhoods throughout the city.
