Motorcyclist in West Cary Street Crash Dies

A motorcyclist involved in a two-vehicle crash yesterday evening on West Cary Street has died.

At approximately 7:08 p.m., the driver of a 2014 KTM Adventure Motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed east on West Cary Street and operating the motorcycle in a reckless manner. A 2008 Ford F-150 pickup truck, which had been stopped at the stop sign on South Addison Street, was easing into the intersection when the motorcycle struck its front driver’s side door.

Both drivers and a passenger in the pickup truck were taken to the hospital for treatment. The motorcyclist, Nicholas P. Dillion, 38, of the 3100 block of West Cary Street, succumbed to his injuries this morning.

The RPD Crash Team responded to the scene, where they took measurements and interviewed witnesses. Due to the death of the motorcyclist, no charges are expected.
