Victim, Suspect Identified in Westmoreland Street Homicide

The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim and the suspect in Saturday’s homicide on Westmoreland Street.

The victim has been identified as Brian E. Szabo, 55, of the 100 block of Westmoreland Street.

The male arrested at the scene has been identified as Nigel E. Walker, 26, of the 100 block of Westmoreland Street. He has been charged with murder.

At approximately 2:11 a.m., officers were called to the 100 block of Westmoreland Street for the report of a person down.

Officers arrived and found Szabo in the residence. He had suffered an apparent stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.

Detectives believe the incident stemmed from an argument with Walker who then fled the house. A few hours later, at approximately 5 a.m., Walker returned to the scene and surrendered to officers.
