Police detectives need the public’s help to identify the suspect, who robbed a south side
convenience store last night and is a person of interest in several robberies
in the metro Richmond area.
At
approximately 10:46 p.m. on May 23, officers responded to a reported commercial
robbery at the Z Express located at 5111 Midlothian Turnpike. The victim stated
the suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the
cash register. The suspect then left the store and was last seen walking behind
the business on Old Midlothian Turnpike. The suspect is described as a black male in his late 30s, 5’9” tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds. He wore a black hoodie, black pants, white gloves, sunglasses and a black cloth over his face at the time of the incident. He also has a distinctive walk, which was described as a “duck walk.”
Detectives
believe that since January this individual may have been involved in numerous
robberies on the city’s south side, in the Washington Park neighborhood, and in
the Azalea area of Henrico County.
