The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim
from last evening’s homicide as Wayne M. Smith, Jr., 34, of the 6300 block
of Midlothian Turnpike.
At approximately 6:17 p.m., officers were called to the
Richmond Inn & Suites at 6346 Midlothian Turnpike for the report of a
person down. Officers arrived and found Smith in the courtyard of the hotel
suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local
hospital where he died.
The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
Detectives are investigating and have very strong leads in
this case.
