Gunshots rang out in Whitcomb Court just before midnight this morning, injuring two people. Shortly after the shooting, one of those victims died.
At approximately 11:51 p.m. last night, officers responded
to the 2300 block of Bethel Street for reports of shots fired and persons shot.
They arrived to find two adult victims, one male and one female, suffering from
apparent gunshot wounds.
Both victims were taken to a local hospital where the male
victim later succumbed to his injuries. The female victim is being treated for
non-life-threatening injuries.
A large group of people were present at the scene when officers arrived. Investigation revealed a party was happening in the area.
“An altercation took place between some of the people
present then gunshots sounded and struck the victims,” said Lt. Jason Hudson
with the Major Crimes Division. “We’re asking the community to help us
identify anyone who may have been involved in this incident.”
