Victim Identified in Chamberlayne Avenue Homicide

Richmond Police Department detectives have identified the victim in Sunday morning’s homicide as Desmond L. Holmes, 32, of the 7900 block of Tamarind Place, Henrico.

Just after midnight on Sunday morning, officers were called to the 3900 block of Chamberlayne Avenue for the report of a person down. Officers arrived and found Holmes down and unresponsive in the parking lot of an apartment building.

Holmes had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.

Detectives are investigating this case as a homicide.

There are several apartment complexes in the immediate area and detectives are hopeful that additional people may have information related to this incident.
