The Richmond Police Department is conducting an
investigation into the sudden death of a male infant in an apartment on the
city’s south side.
At approximately 6:41 a.m., RPD officers were
called to the Belt Atlantic Apartments – formerly Midlothian Village Apartments
– in the 4000 block of Midlothian Turnpike for a report of an unresponsive
child.
The infant was pronounced at the scene.
The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and
manner of death.
While it is still early in the investigation, RPD
detectives have no reason to believe this is a suspicious death.
Unless warranted, it is unlikely any additional
information will be released in this case.
