Victim Identified in Columbia Street Homicide
Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the homicide on Columbia Street yesterday as Julius Brown, 49, of Richmond.
At approximately 6:31 a.m., officers were called to the 1500 block of Columbia Street for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male, Brown, down and unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a pick-up truck. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives are investigating. The driver had apparently been operating the truck southbound on Columbia Street. The truck left the roadway in the 1500 block and struck a tree. Detectives are asking anyone who may have observed suspicious activity yesterday on Columbia Street, near Richmond Highway in the Bellemeade neighborhood, to contact detectives.
