The Richmond
Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred early this
morning on the city’s north side.
At
approximately 1:01 a.m.,
several calls were received reporting random gunfire near the intersection of
W. Ladies Mile Road and Griffin Avenue. RPD officers responded and located a gold
Ford Taurus parked in the 3100 block of Griffin Avenue with the body of an
adult, black female in the driver’s seat. She had been shot.
The victim has
been identified as Yasheka D. Dehart, 32, no permanent address in Richmond.
RPD detectives
canvassed the neighborhood and spoke with several people who reported hearing
gunshots.
